The Redeemed Christian Church of God known simply as RCCG (being the abbreviation of the name) is the fastest growing Church in the United Kingdom with about 800 Parishes across several cities. It is also one of the fastest growing Churches on a global scale today. The Church was established in 1952 by the late Rev. Josiah Akindayomi who hailed from Ondo State, South West, Nigeria. Prior to 1952, Rev. Josiah Akindayomi left his former Church (C & S Church) and started a fellowship at 9, Willoughby Street, Ebute-Metta, Lagos, Nigeria which later birthed the RCCG. The Church Name “The Redeemed Christian Church of God” was revealed to Rev. Josiah Akindayomi in English Language, though he could not read or write but was able to write this down supernaturally. This Church is destined by the Lord to take the whole World for Himself.
Sometimes in the 1970’s, God spoke to Rev. Akindayomi that a young educated man will soon join the Church who will succeed him. Not long after this, a young University Lecturer from the University of Lagos joined the Church in 1973. And immediately Rev. Akindayomi saw him he knew by the prompt of the Holy Spirit that the young man was the one God had spoken to him about. The name of this man is Enoch Adejare Adeboye who was then a Mathematics Lecturer at the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He later became one of the interpreters for Rev. Josiah Akindayomi translating sermon from the local language (Yoruba) to English. He was later Ordained as a Pastor in 1975.
After Rev. Josiah Akindayomi went to be with the Lord in 1981 at the age of 71, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye took over the mantle of leadership of the RCCG as the General Overseer (G.O). Under this humble and anointed man of our great God, the Church has experienced tremendous growth from few Parishes in Nigeria then to thousands of Parishes in all the Continents of the World.
RCCG Berea Believers’ Fellowship
RCCG Berea Believers’ Fellowship, Dudley was inaugurated on the 19th of August 2018 by one of our spiritual Fathers, Pastor U. Obed (The International Coordinator of the Apostolic Discipleship Movement International), now deceased. Our mandate is to fulfil one of the mandates of the RCCG which is to win souls and take as many people as possible to heaven. Also, we are commissioned to raise up people who will not just listen to the Word of God but have a burning desire to cross-check whether what they have heard were true or not. We are also called to disciple parishioners so that they are better equipped for the works of the ministries, especially soul winning as directed by our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ (Matt. 28:19-20). The Parish started at Woodside Community Centre on Highgate Road (The road leading to the popular Merry Hill Shopping Centre), Dudley, West Midlands. We are a growing local Community Church with the mandate to reach out to people of all races and nationalities with the love and undeserved favour and mercies of God.
